SAMOANS GIVE FAREWELL TO ADMINISTRATOR A SPECTACULAR SCENE
By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 9.5 a.m. APIA, Sunday. Over 2,000 Samoans gathered at Mulinuu to-day to give farewell to General Sir George Richardson. The ceremonies consisted of dances, singing and speech-piaking. Several gaily decorated fantasi, each manned by 40 rowers, escorted the departing j Administrator to the steamer. In Apia since Thursday, some 2,000 illegal Mau police, in a uniform of purple, many carrying big sticks, rave been demonstrating in uncompromising manner and to-day unsympathetic Samoans forcibly removed at least Jwo young men from the procession c: loyal natives, en route to the sendoff to the Administrator. Yesterday an illegal meeting of the Mau police at Apia was addressed by Faumaina, a chief recently removed from his native village by order of the Administrator, because of hi 3 activity in Mau matter^. Undoubtedly the policy of breaking ordinances but not bones is still being pursued by the Mau.
