ETCHINGS EXHIBITION
FOR AUCKLAND ART LOVERS
The crowded attendance daily at the exhibition of etchings which Mr. Ernest Finlay, 8.A., is hold,n9> on behalf of the Australian Society of Painter-Etchers, on the fourth floor at the business premises of Messrs. Milne and Choyce, is sufficient indication of the keen interest in Auckland in this branch art. The etchings on view include notable examples of the work of Sydney Long, A.R.E.. Thomas Friedensen, Herbert Gallop. Bruce Robertson, Sydney Ure Smith, and other leading exponents of the Australian School. Mr. Finlay has also in his collection several etchings from the needle of Trevor Lloyd, the Auckland etcher. An interesting addition to the exhibition is a collection of recent work by John C. Goodchild, of Adelaide, who has exhibited both in England and the United States. Mr. Goodchild recently held an exhibition at the Dunster Galleries, Adelaide. It would indeed be regrettable if the gems from this collection were permitted to go into the hands of southern collectors. Aucklanders will only have a few more days in which to view them. 3
