It was agreed that the method of play should be as in Wellington last year, two games, the all-round leading player from scratch to be champion. The tournament was commenced yesterday, and when play adjourned, two rounds had been completed. The hignest scorer so far is Boreham. of Dunedin, with 3 h points. Davis (Stratford), and Clark (Christchurch) have 3 points each.
