For Roskill Seat

MR. E. H. POTTER WILL GO TO POLL TWO REFORM CANDIDATES “I am going to the poll what ever happens. That’s all I know about it.” Mr. E. H. Potter, Mayor of Mt Eden, who has consented to nomination for the Roskill seat as a supporter of the Reform Party, made this declaration to-day in response to an inquiry. \rR. POTTER admitted that as >et his candidature has not the official sanction of the Government party. *‘l take it that the deputation which invited me to stand will now make application to the Prime Minister (Mr. Coates) as leader of the Reform Party.” said Mr. Potter this morning. There is already one Reform aspirant in the field for Roskill. Miss Ellen Melville has announced her firm intention of going to the poll in response to a request from a deputation of women. The present Roskill electorate is represented by Mr Potter bn (Mr. V. H. Potter. M.P.). The sitting member has declared his intention, however, of contesting the new Eden seat, in which, owing to recent alterations by the Boundaries Commission. the majority of his supporters reside. Mr. E. H. Potter has had a long experience in local body affairs, and a* Mayor of Mt. Eden his administratio • has been both progressive and thorough.
