MATCH AT DEVONPORT TRAMWAYS V. SHORE A friendly game between the old rivals, Shore and Tramways, was played at Devonport yesterday, when the corporation team won by three goals to nil. The teams were: Tramways.—Batty, Simpson, Whowell, Stretton. Tinkler, Watson, Spong, H. Davis, F. Davis, Sutcliffe, and Godfrey. Shore.—Lipscombe, Gerrard, H. Smith, Archer, D. Jones, Colebourne, Blackie, Woolley, Moore, Chubb, and Jay. In spite of summery weather the game was lively, and surface conditions favoured good ball-control. In tho first half Shore had rather the better of the game, but Batty was too strong in goal for the weak shooting directed at him. Just on halftime Tramways scored Irom a free against the Shore goalie for carrying. In the second spell the Trammies showed more staying power than their younger rivals, although Shore made some raids -which were fruitless through lack of sting and direction in shooting. Tramways scored twice from two well-placed flag kicks. A pleasant game ended by the visitors being entertained to tea by the Shore committee.
