HURLED DOWN GULLY

CAR’S 300-FOOT FALL MAN AND WIFE INJURED (Special to THE SUN) ft NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday. Two motorists, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Thomason, of Inglewood, were severely injured when their car plunged 300 ft down a bank on Mount Messenger this morning. Mr. Thomason was driving: his car

up Mount Messenger about half-way up on the Uruti side when a collision with another car occurred. After the collision his car swung off the road and fell down a bank a distance of 300 ft.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomason were thrown out about 100 ft down. The other car was driven by a clergyman on his way to New Plymouth. Two men climbed down and found Mr. and Mrs. Thomason lying close together and seriously injured.

The injured motorists were conveyed to the New Plymouth Public Hospital. Mr. Thomason was suffering from a fractured collarbone, broken ribs and serious internal injuries. Mrs. Thomason had severe cuts on the face and legs, and was also suffering from internal injuries.

The ambulance reached the New Plymouth Hospital late this afternoon.
