STORY COMPETITION
THE picture of the elfin folk skimming a star-spangled sky resulted in many imaginative and cleverly handled stories and the Sunbeams are to be warmly congratulated on the very high standard of entries.
Each story strikes an individual note and the Dawn Lady’s task of judging the competition was a pleasant one. Sunbeam Fitzie Morris has given us a charming story, as airy as the sprftes themselves, yet betraying great depth of thought. “The Elfin Piper” teaches a lesson in content.
Little Dick Schofield, one of our keenest competitors, has won a special prize for his delightful little tale, “In Skyland.” This very’ original entry has all the essentials of a short story and works up to a splendid climax. Special mention must be made of the stories by Joan Brookfield, Dorothy Ferguson, Dulcie Rigden, and Gwendolyn Tancred. The results are as follow: First: Fitzie Morris, 61 Mount St. John Avenue, Epsom (aged 15). Special Prize: Dick Schofield, 27 Sheehan Street, Ponsonby (aged 6).
