CANARY NOTES
The Auckland Yorkshire Canary Club has been allotted Saturday, June 30, as the date for its 1228 annual open show. The 1928 Canary and Cage Bird Show, held in Crystal Palace, London, on February 2,3, and 4, attracted an entry of 3,500 canaries and cage birds. For the fifth year in succession Mr. '^?k. n Robson was elected by the exhibitors to judge the various section winners for best in show. He awarded the coveted 50gn Cup to a Norwich Plainhead, exhibited by a Scottish fancier. The cun for Best Yorkshire was awarded to Mr. H. Jones, of Brighton.
Fanciers should note that Palmerston North have both 1928 Yorkshire championships. This policy of not splitting championships, but holding both yellow and buff at the one fixture has much to commend it and when our parent body decides to confine its championships to shows easily reached by rail and which thus drawmore entries, we shall be on the road to making championships worth the winning.
