Josephine Baker Annihilates Space
Although she was asleep in her -flat in Paris shortly before 2 o'clock on January 29, Josephine Baker , the coloured artist , by the aid of a special teas able to appear at the matinee given by coloured performers in aid of the London flood victims at the London Pavilion , Picadilly Circus t W. The time-table of her rush was as follows: — Awakened , 1.50 p.m.; left flat , 2.25 p.m.; left airdrome, 2.50 p.m.; landed Croyddn. .4AO p.m.; reached pavilion , 5.15 p.m. Miss Baker sprained her ankle while dancing at her cabaret in Paris on the previous Saturday night , but when after her songs she gave a brief exhibition of a wild Charleston , London had a full glimpse of her exotic genius. She flew back to Paris the next day.
