POET AND EDITOR

Thomas Stearne Eliot is the editor of a. quarterly-become-monthly magazine, “The Criterion,” to which he has attracted a very enviable list of contributors, though perhaps rather high in the brow. Mr Eliot is himself a poet, strenuously intellectual, honest, sinewy, who never produces easy, lolloping verses for readers with rocking-horse minds. A few of his critical essays—remarkably good—were published in a book called “The Sacred Wood”; and the Hogarth Press published his last book of poetry, “The Waste Land.”
