HARBOUR CHAIRMAN
FAREWELL TO MR. MACKENZIE TRIP TO ENGLAND The members and chief officials of the Auckland Harbour Board met this -morning- at the board’s office to say good-bye to the chairman of the board. Mr. IT. R. Mackenzie, who will leave on Tuesday for a six months’ trip to England. Mr. M. IT. Wynyard, deputychairman, on behalf of the members, presented Mr. Mackenzie with a travelling rug and a set of pipes suitably eni He spoke of the pleasant re- ! latfons tha had always existed between j the chairman and the members, and ! wished him a pleasant journey and a j safe return to New Zealand. The superintendent, Mr. 11. B. Uur- ■ nett, on behalf of the chief officials of | tho board, presented Mr. Mackenzie 1 with an album containing views of ! Auckland Harbour and photographs of j functions at which the chairman had j taken a prominent part. Mr. Mackenzie thanked the members j and officials for their gifts, which he : very much appreciated. He felt that : he could not have carried out his duties j successfully as chairman without the ] support and co-operation of the mem- ; bers and officials. He had been told I by masters of overseas vessels that Auckland Harbour, for its size, was the best equipped port in the world, j but he hoped during his travels to obtain'some information which would be of use to the board in its work.
