FAVOURED ISLAND
THE GREAT BARRIER MINISTER IMPRESSED The Minister of Public Works, the Hon. K. S. Williams, who is the first Cabinet Minister to visit the Great Harrier, was surprised and impressed with the potentialities and the extent of the island when he went over it on Tuesday. Mr*. m. J. Savage, M.P., expressed a desire to remove from the mind of Jho Minister any impression that the Great Barrier was merely a place where ships were wrecked. Tills assn ranee the Minister gave readily, declaring that when viewed lri the distance from passing steamers, the island did not always give the lr npression that it was an extensive and well-favoured area.
