MORE CONCRETE ROADS

NORTHCOTE PLANS .AIL tlie North Shore Boroughs, with tlie exception of Birkenhead, have adopted concrete road ins programmes. Now that the Alain Highways Board has declared the main roads in Northcote and Birkenhead to be main Highways ranking- for £ for £ subsidy on new construction and 30s to £1 subsidy on maintenance work, the Northcote Borough Council is contemplating expending its scheme for use of concrete from the present terminus at the war memorial to the northern and western boundaries of tlie borough on Lake and Onewa Roads respectively. Tlie Borough Council is to formulate a scheme at a special meeting. The present concreting work on Queen Street, the main thoroughfare, is nearly completed, and the footpaths are being put in order.
