CONTROVERSY BY RADIO
FORMER BAN REMOVED BRITISH BROADCASTING British Wireless—Press Assn.—Copyright RUGBY, Sunday. The British Broadcasting Corporation has issued an announcement regarding the recent removal of the ban on discussions by wireless of controversial subjects. It says the new material thus made available will be introduced gradually and experimentally. Controversy on political and economic subjects will be admitted -.vith safeguards for impartiality and equality of treatment. Each subject will be dealt with in such a way that the main opposing views can be presented on occasions clearly contrasted and linked as closely as possible. Debates and discussions will be the normal procedure. The removal of the restrictions will not mean the immediate introduction of indiscriminate controversy in talks and outside broadcasts. Each of the three political parties has been offered an opportunity to talk in the near future.—A. "rid N.Z.
