HARDIER CANE SOUGHT BY AIRPLANE FROM SYDNEY By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Rec. 9.5 a.m. WASHINGTON, Mon. Three leading sugar experts have planned an airplane expedition to New Guinea, under the auspices of the Department of Agriculture, seeking a sugar cane hardier than the present American varieties. Dr. E. Brandes, a member of the department’s sugar-plant section, will fly to San Francisco shortly in a Fairchild cabin monoplane. There he will meet Dr. Jakob Jeswiet, director of sugar experiments at Java for the Dutch Government. They will be joined at Hawaii by an entomologist, Mr. C. Pemberton. The plane will be shipped to Sydney from San Francisco. —A. and N.Z.
