VESSEL IN A FOG

COLLIDES WITH WHARF (From Our Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, Monday. Considerable damage to the Wairoa Co-operative Company's wharf was caused by the s.s. Wairua coming into collision with it early yesterday morning, whilst en route from llelensville to Dargaville. The boat was travelling at a slow speed, owing to a dense fog prevailing, when the impact occurred. The bow hit the structure on the lower side about six feet from the fender piles, tearing the decking for a distance of 20ft. The stringers supporting the decking were smashed to pieces. The railing on the boat was considerably damaged.
