ADDINGTON TRIALS
PREPARATIONS FOR EASTER (Special to THE SUN) CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. Mist and fog hung over the Adding- • ton course this morning, but it did not j interfere with the programme, which | consisted chiefly of fast work for the Easter meeting. The course was in good order. Peter Bingen made the pace for Jacky Audubon in an outing over a , mile. They finished on terms and , were going comfortably at the end. They were not out to establish fresh records. Trimmer and Daisy Pointer, both in harness, tore away from the mile and a-quarter disc and they reached the eight furlongs in smart time, but once into the straight Daisy Pointer tired, leaving Trimmer to complete the full distance in good style. W. Warren was down from Russley with Orphan. The gelding made a skip at the start, but otherwise gave a clean display of pacing. The journey was two miles, which he did under easy restraint all the way. The gelding is in splendid buckle. Queen’s Own In Form St. Maura, with F. G. Holmes in the sulky, and Queen’s Own, with Warren holding the ribbons, were associated | in a swift piece of work, which occupied twelve furlongs. Both mares were under a pull for three parts of : the route. On reaching the straight Queen's Own ran past St. Maura and ‘ finished brilliantly. Acre looked all the better for his . work on Saturday and after jogging
round the course a few times he was allowed to stride along for a mile. ; He was under a tight rein all the way. Young Blake was let off with an easy two miles, which he appreciated. He is moving like a machine and is j in perfect order for Easter events. Coaster Goes Well Locanda Boy, tho Westport pacer. . showed the way to Kreisler for a mile and five furlongs, where Kreisler drew j up to him, but in the run to the finish- ; ing post Locanda Boy retained the | lead. Both pacers are well and they | put a lot of vim into the essay. Great Earl was driven twelve fur- ; longs by W. Warren, and the gelding j gave a faultless display. He is in tiptop racing order and has thickened into a sturdy type of pacer, that should be able to see out a stiff two-mile contest. The pacing gelding Wenlo topped oil' several decent work-outs by going a good mile. He never looked able to do anything wrong on the journey and when urged at the finish he responded quickly. Good Saddle Merchant With F. G. Holmes in the saddle. Pan Yan skipped over a mile, which he did well within himself. The grey gelding has improved since going into Holmes’s stable. The trotting gelding Count Dee lias had a careful preparation. He is better than ever he has been and in a mile and a-half assignment he trotted i in great style. j Diamond Child and Bogan Holme ; were not knocked about in a two-mile : spin, which they appeared to enjoy. Cannonball showed a lot of speed and was at home at Addington. He had Logan Park alongside of him over the last mile. Logan Park's assignment was two miles, which he did in a pleasing manner. Dalmeny, who followed him at an interval of eight lengths, gave his usual faultless performance. Sarella and Rey Logan were let off with a mile and a-half. which ttaey did at little better than three-quarter pace.
