WINNING LIST DON PRONTO LEADS SOME GOOD STOCK The American free-legged pacing stallion, Don Pronto (2.2}) sctems likely to gain the sires premiership for metropolitan racing for the season. To date his family have filled 79 places: 13 of his stock have won and three of them have got three firsts each. Eight horses by Rock Huon have won 14 events. Adonis is represented by five winners of 71 events. Delavan Chimes, who was his predecessor at the sam stud at Temora, is level with him through Delavan’s Quest having obtained six wins and a dead beat. Twelve other sires are represented by winners of five or more races. Directway’s place on the list is entirely due to the successes of Arizor. and Majestic’s only representative Tallimba, has won five events. Minton Derby Minton Derby (2.7), who has been at Mulgrave since his return from New Zealand, will compete in the stallions’ class at Sydney Show. Delavan’s Quest was entered for the stallions’ class, the record trials and other speed competitions, but lias been withdrawn, it having been decided to give him a couple of months’ ! spell from ranlr»g Delavan’s Quest and Sheik will do stud service at Wellington next season. * Promising Young Horses Nowadays the stock of Coonie and St. Elmo are the most successful performers on the far South Coast. Mr. U. Smith. the Canterbury trainer, states that many of Hawthorn Derby are promising race track competitors.
