EDEN AND PONSONBY DIVIDE THE HONOURS
EDEN A BIT UNLUCKY
Although Eden only lost two games during the season, while Ponsonby lost three, the “Ponies” were able to share the top rung of the ladder by virtue of having secured three outright wins, where only once did Eden gain a fourpoint victory. The Eden Colts were also unfortunate in losing two games at a critical stage, when the team was weakened by several players representing Auckland in the Plunket Shield game in Wellington. However, the Edenites had the satisfaction of beating their championship companions on both occasions when they met. Ponsonby is to be congratulated on its great recovery from the foot of the ladder to the top, and a welcome infusion of new blood has rejuvenated the western suburb, while the oldtimers have played a prominent part in the return to form. How the dual champions fared is shown below; Eden
