“PATENT LEATHER KID”

COMING TO PRINCESS AND TIVOLI , Richard Burthelmess’s great picture, “The Patent Leather Kid.” which will . he presented at the Princess and Ti\oli < on Wednesday, has been acclaimed for the re markable realism of its settings, and tl' e almost inspired acting of the principals. Richard Barthelmess a3 } < * Molly O'Dav. Miss O'Day enacts the role of the East Side dancer with much faithfulness, and makes of the vivid character a dramatic success. The story, which is the most credible and convincing of any production leaking with boxing area and the war, has afforded Barthelmess a chance to sho\\ j just how good he

is. He lives the part of “The latent Leather Kid,” catching the spirit of the braggart, egotistic hard-liv-ing, hard - loving young pugilist, while, the acting of Molly O’Day is something not often seen on the screen. This attractive little player does some wonderful work in this production; at one moment a

cheeky provocative little gamin, at another the eternal woman sacrificing herself for love, and the coward man she had given her brave little heart to. The war scenes are the most spectacular ever screened, not excepting the greatest war pictures of the pa.st decade.
