GREAT NEW ZEALANDER

SIR TRUBY KING A GUEST OF HONOUR CHILD WELFARE MOVEMENT By Cable. — Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 9.45 a.m. LONDON, Friday. “New Zealand's lowest infantile mortality in the world is not only due to the climate, but also to the magnificent backing the people have given to the Plunket Society,’ said Sir James Parr, High Commissioner for New Zealand, presiding at an Overseas League lunch to Sir Truby King, who, in replying, reviewed the history and growth of child-welfare in New Zealand. He recalled his war-time visit to Britain, and the founding of the mothercraft training centre at London, where the survival rate is now equal to any part. New Zealand members of the PUnket Society watched the progress of the London movement with interest. He was also gratified to have assisted in starting in London the movement in which New Zealand had become a specialist.—A. and N.Z.
