American Films Near Finish of British Control
American film, productions will no longer dominate the British exhibition .!?!& now that the new quota bill has oh n passed by the English Govern■le nt, according to John S. Robertson, director, who' - has just returned from abroad. ‘•While England will find it difficult at iirst to replace American pictures \ ith productions made under her own flag and under the new ruling, she will he able to meet the situation when several new studios now planned are completed,” he said. "But 25 per cent, of the money expanded on salaries of motion picture* made in Great Britain may be paid out to foreign labour or talent, under the terms of the new law.” The director believes that British producers and exhibitors will feel the effect of the new departure very severely for a time, but following thereadjustment period will carry on as in the past.
