BEFORE WORLD TOUR

PRESENTATION TO TROTTING PRESIDENT Mr. H. R. Mackenzie, president of the Otahuhu Trotting Club, who is leaving for a world tour on Easter Tuesday, was presented with a travelling bag and companion at a farewell function given by stewards of the club and intimate friends yesterday afternoon. In making the presentation Mr. E. V. Sutherland, who presided, wished Mr. Mackenzie a good journey and a safe return. Mr. George Baildon, Mayor of Auckland, and Mr. John Rowe, president of the Auckland Trotting Club, also spoke. After returning thanks Mr. Mackenzie unveiled his gift to the club of a photograph of the late Air. C. F. Mark, late secretary of the Auckland Trotting Club, whom he described as one of the really great men in trotting and a friend to every man. On behalf of the club, Mr. W. C. Watts thanked the donor of the gift, and toother with Mr. W. C. Coldicutt paid a tribute to the late Mr. Mark. Mr. R. L. Absolum, secretary of the Otahuhu Club, proposed the toast of the Auckland Trotting Club, Mr. Rowe replying.

The happy relations existing between the two trotting clubs in Auckland arid between trotting and racing were the subject of many references during the function. Other toasts honoured were those of the chairmen and the Press.
