“Samoa Guardian” is Sued for £l,ooo
ALLEGED LIBEL POLICE OFFICER’S CLAIM By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 10.15 a.m. APIA, Thursday. The “Samoa Guardian” is being sued for alleged libel, a claim of £I,OOO being msde by Alfred McCarthy. The plaintiff Is the acting Police Commissioner. The action is based on a report in the “Guardian” attributing to the Commissioner a statement that the arrest of Tamasese, ordered by the Commissioner, had been a mistake, for which an apology was made.
