OPENING AT EASTER The Maurice Moscovitch season would have started on Wednesday last but for the fact that elaborate alterations are being effected to the auditorium and back portion of His Majesty’s Theatre, all of which will be completed by Saturday, April 7, on which day Mr. Moscovitch and the J. C. Williamson, Ltd., dramatic company will begin its Xew Zealand tour in ‘*The Ringer.” A large staff of painters, carpet layers, mechanics, electricians and decorators have at present complete control of His Majesty’s, and those playgoers who assemble to greet Mr. Moscovitch on Saturday week will realise the fact that a very, large amount of money has been expended by the J. C. Williamson, Ltd. management in an effort to bring His Majesty’s up to the standard of the best and most up-to-date theatres in Australia or New Zealand. . Xew carpets have been installed in the dress circle and stalls, the proscenium, private boxes and other portions of the auditorium have been redecorated, the dressing-rooms have been refurnished and renovated, and new electric effects have been installed in front and behind the curtain. Xew seats for the circle and stalls have been ordered, but thdSfe may not arrive in time to be installed before Easter Saturday. The box plans for the Moscovitch season will be opened on Tuesday morning.
