TO PRESERVE TINSEL
In order to keep untarnished all those lovely gold and silver brocades which are so fashionable for evening wraps and shoes, you must keep them, when not in use, in black tissue-paper to prevent exposure to the uir\ and light. That this method is efficacious was proved conclusively on an ocean liner, where one passenger was very disgusted at finding a patch of tarnish on one of her gold-brocaded shoes. The source of the trouble was revealed when she discovered that there had been a large tear in the black paper covering, exactly over the ugly stain. Hef cabin-mate came to the rescue with some of the new tinsel-cleaner which has just been put on the market, and by means of this powder the tarnish was removed. A severe paroxysm of coughing can usually be relieved at once by administering a tablespoon of glycerine in hot milk. People who are subject to profuse perspiration may counteract this condition by sponging with tepid water to which a little cloudy ammonia has been added.
