KILLED BY KINDNESS

PETER THE PELICAN TOO “LIGHT” A DIET Peter the pelican, of St. James's Park, London, is dead, killed overflowing generosity of his admirers. According to a park official, he was 30 years old. When a post-mortem was held intestinal trouble was found. Peter had indulged in many foods, including a super-abundance of corks. There now remain a sad Mrs. Peter and Mr. and Mrs. Percy Pelican. All three are getting on in years, and Percy is especially troubled with rheumatism, for which he had more than once been treated without much benefit. It would be a kindness were the pelicans fed only with the simplest foods, if any, the park officials say.
