A HAPPY COMBINATION
ITONOURS at the Thames meeting go to the Kings-land-owned and trained mare Concertina. Her condition was a credit to H. J. Long, and with Sid August in the sulky, the daughter of Hal Zolock went two surprisingly good races. She made no bones about defeating the somewhat weak opposition in the slower class two-mile, running the distance in 4.45 2-5 from a 4.49 mark. Geared up later, and penalised 36 yards for her previous victory, the mare tuned in again, and cleaned up the opposition for the second time, in hollow fashion. August, as previously mentioned in THE SUN, was associated with the pacer in some of her work, and had evidently found the right key for Concertina, as in her races she never looked to do anything wrong, and showed a good degree of speed when asked for it. The mare should win her patient owner more, money.
