PERSONAL.—Mr. A. Russell has reported from holidays, and has rejoined the R.M.S. Makura. as chief officer, relieving Mr. C. Sharpe for his holidays. Mr. J. J. Barnard has relieved Mr. R. A. Barling as second officer of the Corinna. The latter officer is at Wellington awaiting orders. Captain A. S. Dalgleish has relieved Captain E. Lowe, of the Corinna for his holidays. Captain A. R. Stewart has relieved Captain S. Hewitt, of the Kaimanawa, so that the latter may take his holidays. PORT HUNTER SAILS ON FRIDAY, —The C. and D. Line steamer Port Hunter will now leave Wellington to-morrow evening for London, via Panama CanaL PAUA SAILS SATURDAY. —The Shell Company’s tanker Paua will commence loading bulk oil at Western Wharf shortly, and is to be dispatched from Auckland on Saturday for New Plymouth. WAIKAWA DUE NEXT WEEK.—The local office of the Union Company have been advised that the Waikawa now leaves Bluff to-morrow for Auckland, where she is due on Tuesday next to load for Honolulu and Vancouver. NORTHUMBERLAND AT LONDON. —A cable message to the New Zealand Shipping Company reports that the Northumberland arrived at London on Monday morning from Napier. She sailed from Napier on February 16 for London tend West Coast ports of Great Britain. CORINTHIC AT PORT CHALMERS.— Due at Port Chalmers this morning from Lyttelton, the Shaw, Savill, and Albion advises that the White Star liner Corinthic leaves the Otago port on Sunday for Wellington, where she completes her- loading, and finally departs at 6 a.m. on April 11 for Southampton and London, via Panama. KING EGBERT REPORTED.—The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Albany, which arrived at Auckland late last evening from New York, reports that the King Line’s new motor-ship King Egbert, en route from Antwerp to Auckland with a cargo of basic slag, will arrive here on Saturday next. The King Egbert has not yet reported by wireless, however. EMPLOYMENT OF SEAMEN. The International Labour Office has been informed of the ratification by France of the convention for finding employment for seamen. This convention was adopted by the International Labour Conference at Genoa in 1920. Any state ratifving it undertakes to organise and maintain an efficient and adequate system of public employment offices for seamen. The business of finding employment for seamen shall not be carried on as a commercial enterprise for pecuniary gain bv any person, company, or other agenev No fees can be charged or indirect}- by any person, company or other agency for finding employment for seamen on anv ship. National legislation shall provide punishment for any violation of these provisions. This convention had already been ratified by 13 countries. EASTER TIME-TABLES.—The Union Company advises that the Marama. from Auckland, and the Maunganui, from \v ellington, are to sail to-morrow afternoon for Sydney, where they are due on Tuesday morning. Owing to the Easter holidays the two steamers are to leave Sydney next Thursday, instead of Friday, their usual sailing day, the Maun- ?£ n ,V- 1 £2 r Auckland, and the Marama for Wellington.
