NEW PARISH PROPOSED

NGARUAWAHIA SCHEME Bishop Cherrington’s attendance at a vestry meeting, and the promise of Iris support, has decided the parishioners of the Huntly-Ngaruawahia parish to form a separate district of Ngaruawahia. It has been recognised for some years that the area of the existing parish is too large for the vicar, stationed at Huntly, to cover it adequately, and the severance has long been considered. A condition that the Taupiri and Orini districts be added to the new parish has been imposed.
