Missing the liner Makura by a few moments 9. young Rarotongan, whose luggage and money were aboard, was provided with a launch to chase the steamer down th© harbour. The race was exciting, but unsuccessful, and was abandoned as the open sea was reached, and the liner was seen to be slipping further ahead.
