MAORI CABARET
AT OTAHUHU TO-NIGHT Something decidely novel in the way of entertainment was offered at the Trades Hall in Auckland last night by Princess Te Puea’s Maori concert party from the Waikato. The programme submitted included canoe and poi dances, and hakas, and. even a descriptive scene in which the tale of the arrival of the Tainui canoe was told. It was in the Tainui that the ancestors of the Waikato people arrived in New Zealand. The offerings by the Moteo Maori band of Hawke’s Bay were decidedly popular. This talented combination also provided music for the dance that followed. To-night the party will appear in the Public Hall in Otahuhu. The proceeds are in aid of a hospital for ; Maoris which Te Puea proposes erect- j ing at Ngaruawahia for the sick and suffering of her people.
