MAJESTIC

“QUALITY STREET” TO-MORROW The sparkling entertainment headed by “Tea for Three/* which has delighted many thousands of Auckland picturegoers, this week, will have its last screening at the Majestic Theatre this evening-. At the Majestic to-morrow will be screened the British classic, Sir James Barrie’s “Quality Street,” as the chief pictorial attraction. In this screen version of Sir James Barrie’s stage play, Marion Davies has been given another role that suits her vivacious personality even more effectively than any of her splendid past performances. She makes Barrie’s delightful heroine live as thousands think of her. Her fragrant beauty, her flair for sparkling comedy, and her keen appreciation of dramatic situations, are given full scope in thi3 production. In a lavishly produced picture, enthralling in every scene, Conrad Nagel heads a distinguished cast of supporting players as Dr. Valentine Brown. He puts great spirit and sincerity into the role. Helene Jerome Eddy as “Miss Susan” and Flora Finch as “Mary Willoughby” are outstanding characters among the rest of the favourite players. No lover of the world’s best love stories, and especially one from the pen of Sir James M. Barrie, should miss “Quality Street.” The photoplay is preceded by a grand prologue, featuring the renowned Majestic Quartette in a picturesque interlude, entitled “A Corner of the Officers’ Club.” “Here’s a Health Unto His Majesty,” “Mulligan Musketeers,” and “The Soldier’s Farewell,” will be sung in their own inimitable way. An excellent musical programme will be played by the Majestic Orchestra under the conductorship of Mr. J. Whiteford-Waugh. “Hajre Kati” (Hubag) will be given as the overture, while among the incidental music will be the famous “Merry Widow Waltz,” “Fourth Movement from Symphony in F” (Tschaikowsky), a selection from “Lilac Time,” “Everybody Loves My Gal.” the latest singing fox trot, “Schumann Songs” and “Drink to Me Onlv With Thine Eyes.” On the supporting programme will be an enchanting scenic, a Majestic Magazine with the latest world news, and a merry comedy “Call a Cuckoo.”
