UNDER HORSE’S FEET
GROOM FOUND BADLY HURT KICKED ON RACE TRAIN (Special to THE SUN) WANGANUI, Wednesday. Lying beneath a horse’s feet and covered with blood, a young man named Harry Barrymore, aged 29, was found in- a horse-uox at Marton on the train from Palmerston North. He was in charge of M.r. MitcTiell’s trotting horses, which were proceeding to Wanganui for the meeting to-mor-row. Dr. Dick was summoned and after a brief examination ordered the man to Hazebrook Hospital, where he is now lying in a critical condition. He is suffering from wounds on the scalp and the temple, a broken jaw and internal injuries. According to reports from Marton shortly before midnight the victim was still in a very serious condition. Barrymore, who was travelling with four horses, in the one box, had evidently gone in to adjust the cover on the animal Van Mac. It is surmised that he slipped and alarmed the animal, which trampled on him and kicked him on the head and body.
