PROPOSED LOAN POLL VOTE ON ONE ISSUE A letter from the Bay s water - Bemont Progressive Association in connection with the proposed loan poll for concrete road completion work was received by the Takapuna Borough Council last evening. It was suggested that the loan proposals for Walter’s Hill and King nnnnnnnfi2kdefspkingn n Edward Avenue should be put before the ratepayers apart from the Sherriff’s Hill and Shakespeare Road issues. The council decided that the voting should be for one consolidated sum of £28,100, to cover all four works. Should the poll be carried, it is proposed to spend only £7,800, or enough to concrete the Walter’s Hill and King Edward Avenue stretches, during their term of office. The remainder of the work would be completed by the incoming council within two years. The town clerk was instructed to complete all formalities necessary. It is not thought, however, that the poll will be taken Within two months, as the new borough roll under the unimproved rating system will not be ready for several weeks. The Milford Surf Club has been made agent for Seats, Ltd., and will receive all the profits for this season. The charges for deck chairs on Milford Beach will be threepence each. The council objects to being included in the proposed Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board, as it is outside the problem the commisison has to consider. It also objects to paying any contribution Qr levy in connection with the engagement of an expert from overseas, on the grounds that the sewerage scheme is approved by the Health Department. The newly-formed Takapuna Surf and Life-saving Club applied for a grant toward equipment, and for a piece of land at the foot of Sanders Avenue for a club shed. Consideration was deferred. Permission was granted to the Takapuna Ex-servicemen’s Club to take up a street collection on the Saturday following Anzac Day. April 28. The Takapuna Tram and Ferry Company is again being asked to repair the old tram track at all bus stops. Street lamps are to be installed over the centre of the road at Milford Beach, the Strand, and Hauraki Road, at an additional cost of £1 8s each a year. The Harbour Board has been asked to provide a breakwind either by a board fence or a hedge along the Bayswater wharf. The Post and Telegraph Department has been asked to provide a telephone booth at Bayswater.
