SIDEY TIME FAVOURED AMONG YACHTSMEN
CLOSING OF SEASON That aquatic men highly approve of the continuance of Hummer Time legislation was contained in a resolution passed at a meeting of the Auckland Yacht and Motor-Boat Association last evening. The general opinion among members was that the extra hour had been a great boon to yacht and launch men. It was decided to forward a copy to Mr. T. K. Hidey, M.P. The season will close officially on April 21, when combined cruising and harbour races will be contested by all clubs. Keel yachts, launches and mul-let-boats will go to Islington Bay and the smaller classes will! compete over harbour courses. The larger keel yachts, classes A and B. will race round Rangitoto and Motutapui, the 26ft., 22ft. and 20ft. mullet-boats will proceed to their destination via Duder’s Spit buoy, in Rangitoto Channel, and the launches will go direct to Islington Bay. Classes A and B will start first at 2.20. and the remainder of the classes will follow at intervals of eight minutes. All events will start off King’s Wharf. The Dominion Handers Cup Counprovinces had one of these particular suggesting that six 14ft. boats should be built by the one builder for future contests. Discussion was deferred, but the feeling of members expressed informally was not in favour of the idea. It was pointed out that before the boats could be built a national fund to finance the scheme would be necessary. This would be most difficult. It was also stated that if six of the provinces had one of there particular boats to represent it in the annual contest for the cup, very little interest would be taken in the contest, as the holding of the trials caused a great deal of interest, and under the suggested scheme no trials would .be necessary.
