“IF” THIS EVENING

LITTLE THEATRE SOCIETY This evening Lord Dunsany’s fantastic play “If” will be presented for the first time in Auckland by the Auckland Little Theatre Society. An excellent cast has been chosen and includes Montagu Steele, Beryl Nettleton, Maurice Ballance, Fred McCallum, J. Gordon, Marie Gaudin, Joy Bartley, Captain Redmond and Tom Harris.

The stage settings of “If” a.re the most elaborate that the society has attempted to deal with. Ten changes will be necessary for the production.

Mr. Kenneth Brampton and Mr. Arnold Goodwin, ably assisted by Mr. T. V. Gulliver, have spent a considerable amount of tim© on designing the settings. As many as four changes take place in one act, so it will be seen that this ambitious presentation will tax the resources of the stage management to the utmost..

The lighting will be of considerable importance and a great deal of time will be expended in this direction to get the desired result. The society is fortunate in having the services of Mr. Goodwin’s undeniable ability. He has made a considerable study of art direction and stage settings.
