RECLUSE LOSES BEARD NOT RECOGNISED IN COURT When Robert Arnold Kearsey, aged 29, was charged at the Police Court last week with being idle and disorderly, he had a mild, mystic look in his eyes, and there wae a foot of tangled beard on his face. When he appeared for sentence today, Chief-Detective Hammond said: “This isn’t the man.” Nobody recognised Kearsey; for the beard had gone. , The chief-detective said that accused seemed to prefer living an idle life in his raupo hut at Blockhouse Bay. He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence. In the meantime he will stay at the Salvation Army Home.
