FIERY CAMBRIDGE
EARLY MORNING BLAZE SHOPS DAMAGED (From Our Overt Correspondent.) CAMBRIDGE. To-day. Cambridge’s bad record for fires still holds. At 3.30 o’clock this morning a block of old wooden buildings in Duke Street was partly destroyed by fire. The shop premises occupied by Mr. James Kidd and the rear rooms occupied by Mrs. Radford were totally destroyed. Splendid efforts by the fire brigade saved the remainder of the building occupied by Broad and Broad, grocers and ironmongers, which was only slightly damaged. Details of the insurances are: Build - ings. £740. in the Sun Office; Broad's stock, £4OO in the same office; Mrs. Radford’s household goods. £35, in the Northern Office. Mr. Kidd’s stock of an estimated value of £IBO was not insured. Broad’s stock was slightly damaged by water.
