Nearly 15,000 attended the first exhibition in England of cinder track motor-cycle racing organised by the Ilford Motor-cycle and Light Car Club, and held at King’s Oak Speedway, near Loughton, Essex, February 19. Fortythree competitors raced round the circular track at an average speed of 35 miles an hour, while thrills were provided by two Australian crack cyclists who performed wonders, taking bends and skidding at 50 m.p.h. These were the two riders referred to in “Motordom” last Tuesday in connection with Mr. Geof. Merediths visit to England. Note the extreme narrowness of the track as compared with New Zealand courses or beach races. What they lose in speed, however, is made up in skids and thrills.
