HUNTLY LOAN POLL
PROPOSALS CARRIED HIGHWAY AND TOWN HALL (From Our Oton Correspondent.) HUNTLY, Monday. A poll was taken on Saturday at the Huntly Town Hall on two loan proposals:— (1) £2,560 to tar-seal the Main South Road through Huntly for a length of about four miles, and (2) £I,OOO special loan to finalise construction and furnishing the Town Hall. Mr. Eric J. Price, returning officer, announced the result as follows: Main Road loan: —For, 133; against. 51. Town Hall loan:—For. 121; against. 62. The former result especially will be hailed with the greatest satisfaction by users of this section of the main highway, for it has been a bone of contention for a long period. The ratepayers are to be congratulated on I the result, for it marks another step toward civic progress in an area that has recognised the merits of bringing the standard of the town up to modern requirement*.
