RAETIHI CHORAL SOCIETY
The first annual meeting of the Raetihi Choral Society was held on Friday evening in the Druids’ Hall. There was a good attendance. The president, Mr. W. H. Sandford. presided. The chairman said that the society had held a most successful year and had made steady progress. Under the capable conductorship of Mr. W. D. S. Ogden the members had made great advancement. He asked Mr. Ogden to accept an honorarium. Mr. Ogden said he greatly appreciated the remarks expressed by the chairman, and thanked the members of the society for their gift, but at the same time he would rather the amount was placed to the funds of the society. The treasurer’s statement showed the society to be in a good financial position. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. W. H. Sandford; vicepresident, Mr. L. A. Eastman; secretary. Mr. G. H. Parker; treasurer, Mr. J. H. Lucas; librarian, Mr. Reynolds; music selection committee, Mr. Ogden and Mesdames Fletcher and Figg; executive committee, Mrs. Goddard, Miss Urwin, Miss Larkin and Miss Ashwell. After the business of the meeting had been conducted an enjoyable musical programme was presented, items by the following being well rendered and received: —Miss Ashwell, pianoforte solo; Air and Afiss Eastman, vocal duet; Alisses Urwin, vocal duet; Airs Heeney, vocal solo; Aliss Kencke. violin solo; Misses Bunakat and PanIyer, vocal duet; Aliss J. Larkin, vocal solo; Aliss I. Coad. vocal solo.
