MOST SUCCESSFUL SEASON UNION REAPS £2,757 More than usual success attended the 1927 Rugby football season in Auckland and. according to the annual report ,a profit of £2,757 was shown by the union at the end of the year’s operations. Success on the field was reflected in the representative record, Auckland having won every one of the 10 matches played, 241 points being scored for and 33 against the team. Gratification at this result was expressed by the president, Mr. J. Arneil, at the annual meeting last evening, when he referred briefly to the successful results attendant upon playing more matches in country districts, to the work of referees, and the improvement of Eden Park. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, His Excellency the Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson; president, Mr. J. Arneil: vice-presidents, Sir James Gunson and Messrs. T. Aitken, P. R. Fraser, M. J. Sheahan, F. J. Ohlson and A. Twiname; management committee, Messrs. H. Frost (chairman), A. St. C. Belcher, T. Keegan, W. Vallance, G. Nicholson, R. H. Cooper, A. A. Baker, C. W. Oram, J. S. Potter, S. Kronfeld, A. Tilly and Brother Clemens; selector, Mr. V. R. Meredith; hon. official country adviser, Mr. J. E. Bell; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. G. O’Brien; hon. solicitor, Mr. J. P. Conlan; hon. Press representative, Mr. T. Buchanan; hon. auditors, Messrs. A. Bayliss and A. A. Lucas. The appointment of a resident delegate to the New Zealand Rugby Union (Wellington), and that of honorary surgeons, was left to the committee. Mr. M. J. Sheahan referred to the impending departure of the All Black team, and expressed the hope that they would emulate on the hard fields of South Africa the deeds of previous wearers of the black jersey and fernleaf abroad.
