UNGEN KING NOT FOR HAWERA
WITH the exception of Bingen King, winner of the final handicap at Thames on Saturday, and Admiral Lock, the runner-up, horses which competed successfully at the northern fixture have not been unduly penalised for the Hawera meeting by the handicapper. Several winners have been let up on their Thames times, and the adjuster has evidently taken into consideration the higher class to be encountered at Hawera. But Bingen King, who just won the 10-fur!ong heat in 2.51 4-5, has been brought back to a 2.50 mark, while Admiral Lock has been penalised 12yds for running second. Great Actress, who won over this distance at Epsom in 2.48 1-5, is placed on a 2.49 mark at Hawera. Bingen King cannot have any chance off this mark and will remain at home. For defeating Nelson Dillon by half a head on Saturday Warplane is asked to concede the Mangere pacer 36 yards at Hawera —and he will have two chances —3uckley’s= and his own.
