W. ORANGE INCAPACITATED

expressions of regret were voiced when the light-harness fraternity heard of the accident which befel the veteran Mangere reinsman, V/. Orange, before the Thames fixture. “Billy” was engaged to drive Dundas Boy in the Cup on Saturday, and while giving the southerner a work-out on Friday the horse capsized and his driver had his collarbone broken and ribs fractured. The injured driver is now in hospital, and will probably remain there for some time. For a iong time past Orange has had an exasperating run of ill-luck, and the many expressions of sympathy are proof of the veteran’s popularity among the sporting fraternity. A suggestion has been made that the sympathy might take a more practical form, and no doubt if a move were made in this direction the response would be liberal.
