A FALSE ALARM
STORY OF MUNITIONS IN TRUCKS JUGO-SLAVIAN FRONTIER By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed., noon. BELGRADE, Sundfl> , The trucks seized at Subotiza did not contain contraband and were allowed to proceed. An earlier report said that the Yugoslav authorities seized 22 wagon loads of ammunition at the frontier station of Subotiza. The consignment is alleged to have been sent to Rumania from Italy, via Hungary. It has been ascertained that 12 trucks which previously passed through the same station contained explosives. A message from Bucharest says that in the absence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, M. Titulescu, through indisposition, a statement was read in the Senate and in the Chamber to the effect that the Government refused to accept the decision of the Council of the League of Nations in regard to the dispute between Rumania and Hungary, namely, that the arbitral tribunal should consist jjf five members. The Government maintains the position which was approved by the Council of the League in September, 1927, which Rumania claims to have fulfilled by her generous offer to compensate Hungarian landowners for land surrendered in Translyvania out of repaV.tion payments due from Hungary. Rumania refuses to admit the right of a new tribunal to decide a question affecting her sovereignty. The statement was received with enthusiasm in both Houses and votes of confidence in the Government and in M. Titulescu were carried.—A. and N.Z.
