His Excellency the Governor-General. <!ir Charles Fergusson, took part in the v&cht racss on Saturday. He was accompanied by Captain E. P. O. Boyle military secretary.

Mr. C. Joske, of Suva, is a through passenger on the Aorangi for Sydney. Sir Henry Scott, K.C., Suva, is a through passenger on the Aorangi.

Mr. A. C. Galbraith, of the Union Oil Company, is a passenger for Sydney hy the Aorangi.

Dr. C. G. Learoyd is returning to England after three years’ service on the Aorangi.

Mr. F. J- Jones, chairman of the Railways Board, returned to Wellington by train last evening.

Sir Eyre Hutson, Governor of Fiji, will bo a passenger on the Aorangi when she returns from Sydney.

Mr. B. C. McArtney, Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd., Auckland, returned by the Aorangi yesterday from a tour abroad.

The Rev. A. S. and Mrs. Wilson are at Brown’s Bay. where they are recovering from a recent motor accident.

Mr. C. R. Mitchell arrived from England last evening by the Remuera. He will stay with Mr. Dan Riddiford, Wairarapa.

Mr. S. E. Day, operating equipment assistant on the New Zealand Railways, arrived in Auckland this morning. Mr. B. A. Ferrier was among the passengers who arrived last evening from England by the Remuera. He will go to New Plymouth.

Mr. Victor Bonney, the well-known English surgeon, le*t for Sydney by the Aorangi to-day on his return to England.

Mr. Allen C. Baume, of the literary staff of the “Daily Guardian,’’ Sydney, who has been visiting New’ Zealand, is leaving by the Aorangi this afternoon.

Surgeon-Lieutenant S. G. Weldon, R.N., was a passenger from England by the Remuera, which arrived last evening. He will join the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy.

Mr. F. G. Hayes Towns, F.S.M.C., F.8.0.A., late of the Refraction Hospital, London, arrived by the Remuera. Mr. and Mrs. Hayes will take up their residence in Dunedin.

Captain C. Hayward Johnson, an engineer of the Anglo-Ecuadorian Oilfields, Ltd., is a through passenger on the Remuera for Australia. He will be engaged in oil deevlopment work in Mersey Valley, Tasmania.

Lieutenant-Commander C. J. M. Lang, R.N., arrived from England last evening by the Remuera, and will go to Wellington to relieve LieutenantCommander Lumb, R.N., as staff officer to the Naval Advisor.

Mr. E. A. Wyld, president of the First National Bank of Portland, Oregon, U.S.A., is on a holiday trip to Sydney, which he last visited in 1876 as a junior officer in the old Wigram steamer Durham.

Mr. N. Gallichan. the well-known cricketer of Palmerston Nojth, expects to be playing in Auckland cricket next season. He is employed in a Government Department and is under transfer next month to the North.

Mr. Claude Browning, headmaster of the Waverley School, has been appointed to the position of headmaster of the Waitara school, under the Taranaki Education Board. Mr. Browning was at one time at the Queen’s Park School, Wanganui.

The Hon. K. S. Williams. Minister of Public Works, and the Hon. A. D. McLeod. Minister of Lands, arrived in Hamilton on Saturday evening after their tour through the Raglan electorate. After a visit to Arapuni yesterday morning they motored to Rotorua.

Mr. J. H. Leopard, chief clerk of the Frankton Junction locomotive branch, who has been transferred to Petone, was presented with a portmanteau and rug prior to his departure. Mrs. Leopard was given a set of silver spoons and a silver jug.

Mr. L. T. Hames, secretary to the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company sine© its inception, has been appointed secretary of Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd. His place is to be taken by Mr. G. W. G. Thomson, accountant of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company.
