FOR THE BUSINESS GIRL WHO “PARTIES”

Keep yourself and your clothes always ready to rise to occasions. Prepare your evening things at home, the night before a party. See that your hair and hands are immaculate, well in advance. Don’t flurry over your actual dressing. It’s advance readiness that counts. If you can dress in luxury at home, lie down if you possibly can for fifteen minutes in a dark room with a pad of cotton-w’ool soaked in eye lotion or cold water on your eyelids. The lovely fresh feeling will last all through the evening, and your eyes will look their clearest. Then get up, and have your bath—not too hot, or you will get ugly red patches on your face and neck. While you are in your bath, leave a film of cold cream all over your face. Afterwards wipe it off with cleansing tissues, and apply your favourite cream and powder. Never experiment with a new cream or rouge on the night of a party. If you want to look and feel a success you have got to use your brains all the time you are getting ready. However short a time you have to dress, do bathe your eyes. Boracic and water, elderflower water, cold tea are all excellent. Bathing takes away the tired look and feeling and makes your eyes sparkle. Always see that your nails are immaculate and no matter how hurried the toilet don't overlook those so important details that contribute so much toward the well-groomed feeling. The whole art of looking your best at parties is really in being wise beforphnnd.
