INTOXICATED MOTORIST POLICE THOUGHT HE’D DRIVE SUPPRESSION REFUSED James Wallace Irvin, aged 50, was about to crank up his motorcar on Saturday when a constable decided he was unfit to drive. VyHEN he appeared at the Police T * Court to-day charged with being intoxicated in charge of a motor-car he was fined £5. Mr. Sellars, who appeared for accused and pleaded guilty, said that accused had driven the car from Penrose back to Green Lane, and then adjourned to the Ellerslie Hotel. He was about to crank up the car when a policeman arrested him. There was a man with him capable of driving the car. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said he was not satisfied that accused was not going to drive. He was fined £5. In refusing an application to suppress accused’s name the magistrate, Mr. E. C. "Cutten, said there were no special reasons why this should be done.
