“VERY CONFIDENTIAL”
A NEW FOX FILM “Very Confidential,” a Fox production, starring Madge Bellamy, will shortly be released here. Miss Bellamy is cast as a salesgirl in a sporting goods store, who falls in love with the photograph of a famous athlete. Determining to win the young man’s interest, despite the fact that he encounters her in the store and appears not even to notice her, she plans to go to a fashionable resort with a shipment of sporting goods, and pose as Adelaide Melbourne, a famous sportswoman. Telling the clerk that she is travelling incognito, as. it is “very confidential,” she rapidly becomes the most talked of visitor at the hotel, and after meeting the father of her hero, and then the hero himself, she passes through many adventures. She is called on to drive a car in a road race, and this proves one of the most exciting motor-races ever filmed. Marjorie Beebe, well-known Fox comedienne, contributes much humour to “Very Confidential.”
A striking contrast in feminine rolen appears in Douglas Fairbanks’s “The Gaucho,” the new United Artists production. Eve Southern appears as a spiritual girl of idealistic character. Lupe Valez has the part of a wild madcap of a frontier village. Both capture the sympathy of the bandit chief impersonated by Doug. To tell in advance who wins Doug, mighf 1 spoil tho thrills of the picture.
